| Went searching for some gold on Sunday – well sort of. The Biscuits and Milhal’s went on a road trip to Waihi Beach via the Karangahake Gorge. The gorge is the sort of place that you drive past a thousand times without ever stopping – so we finally did! The whole area was part of a large gold mining operation from early last century. It has been transformed into a reserve and native bush is progressively reclaiming it back leaving lots of great walking tracks and cool tunnels. We spent the first part of the day at Waihi Beach: had a great swim in the surf followed by a scrummy picnic and then a long walk through the gorge; a refreshing swim in the Ohinemuri river before drudging back to Auckland in the car. It’s a “do-again-a”. |

Whenever I go on an adventure, I always consider finding anything valuable like gold. I find it interesting, even though there's a low possibility of finding one.
