It seems rather timely to mention that we are now paying around €1.50 or NZD$3.00 a litre for diesel in France. I filled up the Jerry can today with petrol for lawn mowing: it cost me €30 euro's.
I thought it would be interesting to do some basic sums: the Saudi's are pumping around 9 million barrels a day, at today's peak of USD$146 that makes revenue of roughly USD $1.3 billion a day. Subtract published production costs of USD $70 million and it leaves a gross profit of (lets be conservative) USD $1.2 billion a day!
I reckon when I get back to NZ I'll have to look into the super yacht/ boat building industry, orders must be due to start pilling up.
